Finding moments to spend intentional, uninterrupted, and focused time with one child can be challenging in the world we live in. If this is the case with one child, I can imagine the pressure with more than one. When I ask my mommy friends about their experiences with spending individual time with their children, no one was able to share the perfect formula. One response that was common was the need for a balance when spending this intentional time with individual children. This made me think about Jesus and his disciples.
After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.
John 3:22 NIV
There are many times in the bible where we see Jesus spending time with his disciples collectively. Although we rarely see stories of Jesus spending one-on-one time with each of his disciples, I’m sure there were many of those moments. As his children, we are able to feel God’s love and his presence during different moments in our lives. Because of his omnipresence God is everywhere at all times. Think about how special you feel when you get that touch from God. Now imagine how each individual child of yours feels when he or she spends that uninterrupted and intentional time with you. Although it may not be possible to happen often, I encourage you to take some time and enjoy one-on-one time with each of your children.
If you feel led to, feel free to comment below and provide a tip that works for you when balancing one-on-one time with each of your children. You never know, what works for you may work for another mommy.
