Living Fruitfully

Recently I made a decision to get back on track with working out and eating
healthier. This is after I realized how tired I would get after going up a short
distance of a flight of stairs. I also realized how certain clothes were not fitting
properly or at all. These occurrences did not leave me feeling great about myself.

There was even a point in which I did not like to take or look at pictures of myself.
One day I decided to change the narrative and do something about my weight
instead of complaining about it.
One thing that came to mind when I decided to do something about my
weight is how God instructs us to live fruitfully and multiply. We see this command
in Genesis 1:28 (MSG) “God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take
Charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing
that moves on the face of Earth.” God charges us to be responsible for everything
living on Earth, this includes ourselves. This command is one we as moms need to
take seriously because we tend to let ourselves go as we put everyone/things
before ourselves. Doing this and not taking care of ourselves will only lead to
burnout and stagnation which is something God did not create us for. Burnout and
being stagnant leads to unproductivity. If we are not being productive, we are not
living up to the potential God created us for.
I want to share some practical tips I learned while on this healthier lifestyle
journey. One thing that is commonly said when it comes to working out is “I don't
have time”. That my friend is not true, I too used to believe that lie until I realized
how much could be done in as little as 20 minutes. Here are some resources that
have helped me in this season, I pray they can help you as well:
● Netflix: If you have a Netflix subscription you can search for workout
videos, they partnered with Nike so you will find a variety of workout videos.
● Youtube: There are a ton of workout videos that accommodate gym or at
home workouts. Here are some channels I’m subscribed to: Glow With Tori
and DejaFit.
● Healthy eating: Weight loss and staying healthy has a lot to do with what we
consume and how much we consume. I joined a weight loss challenge program
to help me get started with my journey. This program helped me create a
healthier relationship with food. I continue to eat according to this plan
although I am no longer a part of the program. The name of the program is
AR30, here is the site www.ar30challange.com.
● Supplies: if you decide to workout at home, I recommend getting your
weights from the store 5Below. I purchased all of my workout gear from
there, it’s durable and affordable.
Lastly, my daughter played a big role in this journey. Not only does she
workout with me at times, she is a great support as she encourages me to keep
going as I workout. Living healthy not only benefits you but creates a healthier
culture for the home which allows for a fruitful home environment. If you can, I
encourage you to have your children join you when you workout. It will uplift you in moments where you would feel like throwing in the towel.
